Lichtenstein

We were thinking of a summer holiday with warm temperature but not too hot, and definitely water, a sort of replacement for the sea...so we came with the idea of a round trip to Italian lakes, Como and Maggiore.
We decided to have a stop in Vaduz, to see one of the smallest countries in the world-Lichtenstein, a kingdom ruled by the Prince Hans Adam II, settled between Austria and Switzerland and sharing German language with its much bigger neighbours.
The trip from Paris to Vaduz was quite difficult as it was raining most of the time, but we enjoyed stunning views of the Alps.

Lichtenstein is mainly mountaneous , with moderate temperature-perfect for bike rides, mountain trips and ski during the winter.
Vaduz, the capital, is a little town with modern architecture and even a film festival running while we were there.
On the top of the mountain, with gorgeous views over the city and the valley, the medieval Vaduz castle can be visited only outside as it is still the residence of the Prince of Lichtenstein.
We stayed in a nice hotel that can accommodate 4 persons in a 2 rooms apartment, that costs 200 eur/ night breakfast included, called Meierhof- www.meierhof.li  The breakfast was continental with nice local touches such are home made yoghurt and marmelade. At check out they even offered us a small jar of local marmalade!
We had dinner at a restaurant with amazing views on the valley, quite expensive.

The next morning we even adventured for a quick but exhausting  5 km run on the hills.
