  This year we haven't planned much for summer vacation, due to pandemic. We took last minute decisions that happened to be quite inspired. For a long time I was dreaming of  summer vacation on the mountains, with fresh air, hikes and lake swimming - well, Morzine is the perfect destination for this! Only around 6 hours driving from Paris, Morizine is the entry gate for the largest ski domaine in Europe- Portes du Soleil. The area counts 13 ski resorts between Mont Blanc and Geneva Lake, being shared between France and Switzerland.Approximately 650 km of slopes. In summer, this area is a paradise for mountain bikers, with a large variety of trails, biking schools, lifts and dedicated hotels for bikers.Morzine is also part of the Tour de France since 1975. If you prefer walking and hiking, there are plenty trails starting under the main ski lift, in the Parc des Dérêches, going through the forest. Also, in the park there are playgrounds for kids, horse riding, an open swimming ...

Forget about exotic islands! We have discovered this year for New Years Eve celebration the magical Costa del Sol -Spain. This region  belonging to Andalusia is famous not only for its magnificent beaches, elegant beach resorts such are Marbella, Sotogrande or Estepona, but also for its pitoresque white villages  nested in the mountains, with old churches that belonged to all religions on the world . ( Mijas, Casares, Ronda, Frigiloana). This territoy was disputed during the years between  Romans,  Christians and Muslims, devastated by Spanish Civil War and having even a small British enclave -Gibraltar. In its southern point -Punta del Tarifa, near Cadiz, Europe is only 14 km away from Africa.  Being under  Moors occupation more than 700 years, Andalusian art and architecture is a mixture between Cristian and Arab styles, creating astonishing masterpieces such are Alhambra palace in Granada or La Mezquita in Cordoba. Trying to escape from the cold and rainy Paris in November, we were searching a place reacheable by plane and not very far, as we had only one week for this escapade. And like previous years, we have special occasions to celebrate- the anniversaries of our son and my husband! Canaries aren’t completely new for us, as we have visited Fuerteventura in 2015, but we could not even dream of such an extraordinary climate and landscapes as in Tenerife. Practically, the temperatures vary so little during the year, allowing to enjoy a 22degreee in water and 24-25 degree on air, at the beginning of November😀 We actually used sun screen protection! Tenerife is the biggest of  the seven Canary islands, which are Spanish territories on the west coast of Africa, only 100 km away from Morocco, in the Atlantic ocean.They are the southest European teritory.
