Banyuls-sur-Mer, Languedoc Roussillon, French Catalunya 2020

  We've visited Languedoc Rousillon ( French Catalunya) several times and we were always amazed by the large, sandy beaches, almost empty.   This year, due to Coronavirus, we haven't planned much and we took last minute decisions, that made us arrive in Banyuls-sur-Mer, in a recenty renovated villa near train station. Different from the resorts we knew already in the area, Banyuls is small, elegant, with a central area full of very good restaurants, small beaches surrounded by mountains and wineyards and a new promenade along the port. In the port there is a famous one Michelin star restaurant, El Fanal, with extraordinary food and decent prices: www.pascal-borrell.com. In fact, one of the big advantages of Banyuls is the quality of restaurants: for my birthday, for instance, we opted for a small one, facing  Plage des Elmes, called La Littorine, included in Michelin guide 2020. Morzine Avoriaz-The French Alps -Haute Savoie

  This year we haven't planned much for summer vacation, due to pandemic. We took last minute decisions that happened to be quite inspired. For a long time I was dreaming of  summer vacation on the mountains, with fresh air, hikes and lake swimming - well, Morzine is the perfect destination for this! Only around 6 hours driving from Paris, Morizine is the entry gate for the largest ski domaine in Europe- Portes du Soleil. The area counts 13 ski resorts between Mont Blanc and Geneva Lake, being shared between France and Switzerland.Approximately 650 km of slopes. In summer, this area is a paradise for mountain bikers, with a large variety of trails, biking schools, lifts and dedicated hotels for bikers.Morzine is also part of the Tour de France since 1975. If you prefer walking and hiking, there are plenty trails starting under the main ski lift, in the Parc des DĂ©rĂȘches, going through the forest.
